AnAmericanBrat_coverThe January book selection for the Global Book Series is An American Brat by Bapsi Sidhwa.  Bapsi Sidhwa is an award winning novelist, raised in Pakistan and currently living in Texas.  An American Brat is a coming-of-age story about a Pakistani teenager, Feroza, who is sent to America by her parents for a temporary stay with her uncle.  The temporary stay becomes extended as she decides to attend college.  Much to the concern of her parents, Feroza slowly alters her perceptions and beliefs as she distances herself from her homeland and culture.
